Ukraine

The appalling events in the Ukraine continue to dominate the news agenda and we know we're not alone in wanting to do all we can to help those that need it most.

As a mutual organisation and a Responsible Society, giving back to our communities is vital and the Samuel Fox Foundation was set up through The Nottingham last year to do just that. Although the fund’s ethos is to support our local communities, help young people fulfil their potential and inspire their future, sometimes something so important happens that threatens all our futures.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has called the situation across eastern Europe the fastest-growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. So, we feel if the fund can help - it should, as supporting the relief efforts is the right thing to do. With that in mind, the Samuel Fox Foundation has made a £20,000 donation to Operation Orphan to support the humanitarian efforts assisting displaced refugee children. You can read more about the Chilwell-based charity here and see for yourself some of the fantastic work they are doing, directly supporting refugees on the Moldovan border.

For our team members who would like to support Operation Orphan further, we have arranged five days of volunteering sessions with them where teams from Beehive Money and The Nottingham will be helping to pack vans, organise donations and get things ready to travel to the Moldovan border to help refugee children.

In addition to this, we'll be match funding team member’s individual fundraising efforts in supporting the causes assisting those fleeing war or impacted by the atrocities. Our The Nottingham branches are getting involved by acting as a collection points for Operation Orphan to collect items needed most by those that have lost everything, should the branch accommodate the space to host a collection point.
